Vertical farming and the future of food
By 2050, the world population is expected to reach 10 billion, putting significant pressure on agricultural sector to feed everyone. With limited natural resources and land to cultivate, we need innovative solutions to ensure food security for all. This presentation will explore the concept of vertical farming and its potential as a solution to these challenges. The benefits and limitations of this technology will be discussed, along with successful examples of vertical farming projects from around the world.

I am a PhD student at Mälardalen University, working on two research topics in the field of indoor farming and sustainable agriculture: 1) Spectroscopy in indoor farming, and 2) growing healthy plants using wastewater and recovered nutrients. I have a educational background in agricultural engineering and environmental science and have worked with two leading Agtech companies in Stockholm before starting my PhD. Apart from my passion for sustainable food production, I enjoy cooking, reading and traveling.
